I don't want to use alternative fuels, what can I do?

Choosing efficient vehicles can be just as important as your choice of fuel. An inefficient LPG vehicle can emit higher emissions than an efficient petrol. When choosing new vehicles, CO2 emissions will play a key role and this will mostly likely push you towards diesel vehicles. However, if your fleet spends a lot of time in urban areas you may want to consider the emissions that lead to poor local air quality as well as CO2 emissions. For more information on a balanced approach to emissions reductions for car fleets click here.

If diesel represent the best balance for your needs or is required for operational reasons then ensure that any cars in your fleet are fitted with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF's). DPF's are common on larger vans where they are needed to meet EURO 4 standards and are increasingly fitted to cars ensuring that there is a good range of vehicles to choose from. Please contact ECO travel for specific enquires.

It is possible to reduce the environmental impact of your fleet through using cleaner conventional fuels. The cumulative savings can be large. For information on cleaner conventional fuels click here.

If you haven't already considered it options such as buying low rolling resistance tires, reducing the wind resistance (particularly of larger vehicles), minimising unnecessary weight, using good quality lubricants, driver training, driver reward schemes and limited company car lists can combine to offer significant environmental benefits and fuel cost reductions.
